The Hungarian Parliament is the largest building in Hungary and has become a poular tourist attraction in Budapest. A competition was held for it's design, won by Imre Steindl's Neo-gothic design based on the Houses of Parliament in London. Construction was started in 1885 and the building was inaugurated on the 1000th anniversary of the country in 1896, and completed in 1902.
