From the last-named School Craig enlisted inthe Cameron Highlanders in September 1914,and in April 1915 received a commission in the1 st Scottish Rifles. He served with that Bat-talion in France for three years, gaining therespect of his fellow-officers for his coolnessin the face of danger. In 1917 he was men-tioned in dispatches for the gallant captureof an enemy trench. He fell at VillersGuislain on 21 September 1918, while lead-ing his men to the attack in the face of.
