Urban Mountain. Seen from Anafiotika neighborhood and standing at 300 meters (910 feet) in the center of Athens, Mount Lycabettus is the highest point in the city, with pine and cypress trees covering its base. At its two peaks are the Chapel of St. George, an open theatre, and a restaurant. As always in Greece, myths and reality are mixed, so Lycabettus is credited to Athena, who created it when she dropped a limestone mountain she had been carrying for the construction of the Acropolis after the box holding Erichthonius was opened.
