03/12/14 After the first overnight frost of the winter with temperatures plunging to -2, Neil Townley, 49, harvests trees at Clayton Fold Christmas Tree Farm in the Goyt Valley near Whaley Bridge in the Cheshire Peak District. Neil expects to sell about 1000 trees this year from his plantation that he says is one of the highest Christmas tree farms in the country. "We're at 1000 ft up here - it's the height Christmas trees - especially the Nordmans - are meant to grow at. You can grow them on lower land but they love it up here. "This is the first frost we've had. They'll be four of cutting trees down for customers today. On Saturday we'll probably get about 300 people here all choosing their own trees. I just hope it doesn't snow at the weekend" said Neil. ***ANY UK EDITORIAL PRINT USE WILL ATTRACT A MINIMUM FEE OF £130. THIS IS STRICTLY A MINIMUM.
