A POW/MIA flag is shown flying with the flag of the United States on the garrison flag pole Sept. 21, 2018, in observance of the National POW/MIA Recognition Day at Fort McCoy, Wis. National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed in the United States on the third Friday of September each year. Many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war and those who are missing in action, as well as their families.
