They evinced a particular taste for engraved stones, andtheir courtiers propagated that taste, while their object was to flatterthat of their masters. Giovanni and Domenico excelled in thepractice of an art which was then the object of the greatest en-couragement. The first engraved in intaglio, the second in relief,both with such success, that they are known in the history of theart under the names Giovanni de Cornaline, and Domenico zeus overcoming the giants.
