As the station is placed witliin 400 feet of thebay, condensing water is , and is drawnthrough iron piping 8 inches in diameter and 945 feetlong. At high tide the intake is in 13 feet of water. Thisintake is built of T rails, driven well into the bottom andspaced at intervals of 18 inches to form a circle. Withinthis railing is a network of copper panels 2/i feet wide.
