Image of a visual relay station during World War One. The station is used to relay messages from the front to the rear when direct communication is not possible. A small 14-cm lamp is used to acknowledge messages forward and a larger 24-cm lamp is used to send messages to the rear. This photograph was taken at the 2nd Corps Signal School in Chatillon Sur Seine, Cote d'Or, France.
