When treated intelligentlyand properly, the horse is the most tractable and serviceableof all the domestic animals; but if treated ignorantly orbadly, he is liable to become so vicious and unmanageableas to be comparatively if not wholly -worthless. While there is no lack of information and acceptedauthority on breeding, stabling, shoeing, driving, color, etc.,etc., as pertaining to horses, there is a singular lack ofauthority, or even intelligent understanding, on the art ofarts, namely, that of teaching, subduing, and changing thecharacter of wild or vicious horses, as desired. In fact,there is no book or other authority on the subject, it beingpractically a new science, the principles of which have butrecently become understood, as developed by the author ofthis work.
