Richard of Wallingford (1292–1336),Abbot of St Albans. He was an English mathematician,astronomer and horologist. He invented what is thought to be the first mechanical astronomical clock called the Rectangulus that told the time, indicated the movements of the sun, moon and stars and gave the time of high tide at London Bridge.
