Reculver Towers Norman Abbey and Roman Fort ruins on the north Kent coast


The two towers of the abbey ruins are famous for having been used as guide for the testing of the bouncing bomb of Dambusters fame. Part of a practice Bouncing Bomb was found in March 2017. The twin towers of Reculver were similar to those on the Ruhr damn attacked by nineteen Lancaster bombers of 617 Squadron in May 1943
