Craig Park Youth Centre, Enfield, United Kingdom. Architect: Curl la Tourelle Architects, 2013. East elevation from all weather

An existing single storey building was demolished and replaced by a new two storey buildingThe olf built was fully refurbished and remodelled. The new centre includes a large ground level social space, a four storey internal climbing cave, training kitchen, dance studio, media lab and recording studios, gym, changing rooms, outdoor games spaces and vegetable and habitat gardens. At first floor, transparent backlit polycarbonates cladding unites the existing and new build elements, creating a strong new identity from the street and adjacent park while allowing glimpses of the existing walls. The arrangement of spaces encourages flexibility and maximises future revenue. Careful zoning allows youth activities to continue separately from community activities.
