An Ottoman silver-mounted kilij, circa 1800, Curved single-edged blade of Sham Damascus with a broad, double-edged point. The quillons with geometric engravings, the grip frame of silver with riveted horn grip panels and attached hand loop. The wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather, decorated with elaborate cord underlays and broadly stitched with silver wire, with florally engraved silver mounts and blade slit cover, the suspension bars with stylised dragon heads in relief.
