ELCAS (M) provides the capability to off-load containers from beyond the surf zone to shore via wheeled vehicles on the elevated roadway structure. Seabees from Amphibious Construction Batallion 1 (ACB-1) and ACB-2 have been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
