Many exchange editors use their department forplaying the game tit for tat. If another magazinecriticises their magazine unfavorably, straightway theyretaliate. But this petty retaliation is narrowing and notfor the best good of the publication. We want to knowyour opinion of us so that we may be helped by it. Wedo not want to move in one small circle. And so we askfor your criticisms, and hope, too, by our suggestions toaid you. This is what an exchange department is for, andonly when it is used for this purpose is it accomplishingits aim.
