BishopAshton has a pleasing personality andcommands the respect of his asso-ciates everywhere. ASHTON, George Savage, the firstBishop of the Capitol Hill Ward (SaltLake Stake), Salt Lake City, Utah,. was born July 27, 1870, in Salt LakeCity, the son of Edward Ashton andJane Treharne. He was baptized July27, 1878, by his father in the JordanRiver, and received his education inthe public schools and in the L. D. in Salt Lake City. He wasordained a Deacon by Bishop JosephPollard, and an Elder in September,1893, by James W. Ure. He was or-dained a Seventy Oct. [\ IHiVS, byApostle Francis M. Lyman and setapart for a mission to the Indian Territory, where he labored for 22months in the Oklahoma Conferenceand six months as president of theCherokee Conference. After return-ing home, he labored as an officer inthe Y. M. M. I. A. of the 15th the 24th Ward was created outof the western part of the 15th Wardhe became choir leader, in which po-sition he served six years and he alsolabored in the Y. M. M. I. A. B
