Sea-buckthorns with ripe berries growning wild on the east coast of Great Britain

The sea-buckthorns (Hippophae L.) are deciduous shrubs in the genus Hippophae, family Elaeagnaceae. It is also referred to as "sea buckthorn", seabuckthorn, sandthorn or seaberry. it is largely confined to sea coasts where salt spray off the sea prevents other larger plants from out-competing. Sea Buckthorn is the richest known natural source of carotenoids, beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A), vitamin E, vitamin K1, and beta-sitosterol, and an outstanding source of a unique array of other health-promoting natural components. This makes it a potent all-natural vitamin and mineral supplement.
