Light micrograph of an Entamoeba histolytica trophozoite (active feeding stage of some protozoan organisms). It is a parasitic that infects humans and primates, causing amoebic dysentery. Symptoms of amoebic dysentery include diarrhoea, severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
