Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK. 23rd April 2016. Firefighters turned heads when they take took the streets of Portsmouth in full breathing apparatus carrying a giant ladder today. The crews marched the piece of equipment a gruelling 13 miles from Horndean Fire Station to GunWharf Quays in Portsmouth. The team of 30 ladder-laden firefighters are out to raise money for The Firefighters Charity and Football For Cancer (FFC) with buckets out collecting much needed donations on the day. Portsmouth,Hampshire Saturday 23rd April 2016 Firefighters turned heads when they take took the streets of Portsmouth in full breathing apparatus carrying a giant ladder today. The crews marched the piece of equipment a gruelling 13 miles from Horndean Fire Station to GunWharf Quays in Portsmouth. The team of 30 ladder-laden firefighters are out to raise money for The Firefighters Charity and Football For Cancer (FFC) with buckets out collecting much needed donations on the day. Organiser and watch manager Craig Sadler said: “It been great people have turned out and given us a cheer and a wave the whole event has been great with lots of people showing their support. “Obviously we are looking to raise money for two good causes but it is also nice for people to see us doing things and being at the heart of the local community”. Fire engines along the route gave people the chance to have photos taken behind the wheel or to get much need fire safety advice. A total of £2394 has been raised by bucket carrying fire fighters and supporters. The price has been matched by Barclays brings the total to: £4788:00. The money raised will be split between two charities. The Firefighters Charity and Football For Cancer (FFC) @UKNIP
