Our whole party enjoyed these events immensely, as wellas the accompanying tea and other refreshments. Mr. Arthur Gill, the man who first suggested Pelican Islandfor our quarters, was active in our behalf and secured ticketsadmitting us to the Savannah Club, one of the main socialcenters where the leading men and women of Barbados arein the habit of congregating in the latter part of the afternoonto enjoy tennis and refreshments of various sorts. Mr. Gill isan enthusiastic yachtsman and owner of the Mustang, aracing boat which at present has no rival here. On severaloccasions he took members of our party for a sail and incident-ally proved himself a sailorman of the first rank.
