The 33,000 m² sports campus was designed by the architects Russ Davenport and Henk Merle of FaulknersBrowns Architects from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The building is characterized by the asymmetrical round shape and the use of polished stainless steel, which changes color constantly, depending on the sunlight, the cloud patterns and reflections of the surrounding greenery. The building was taken into use on June 14, 2017. The complex was nominated in 2018 for the prize of Best Building of the Year in the Livability & Social Cohesion category. The Invictus Games, which would have taken place here in spring 2020 have been rescheduled due to COVID-19 Pandemic to 2021.
