Built by Santo Trafficante, the hotel Deauville was a casino and mob hangout up until it was seized after the Cuban revolution

Built by Santo Trafficante as a money laundering operation and source of gambling revenue, the hotel Deauville became a notorious mob hangout during the 1950's up until it was seized by Castro's government after the Cuban revolution. After years of neglect and disrepair it underwent a series of restorations and reopened as a moderately priced tourist hotel conveniently located on the Malecon in central Havana.
