His father(of Russian family) was a lieutenant-com-mander in the United States navy when hewas lost on board the Oneida atYokohama in 1870. The subject of thissketch married Caroline Southmayd, June14, 1894, and they have two children, GeorgeBarton and Theodora Muldaur. Anotherchild, Dayton S. Muldaur, is deceased. Munby, Ernest John (, 97), was bornin Turvey, Bedfordshire, England, May 19,1875; son of the Very Rev. George FrederickWoodhouse and Harriet Louisa (Linton)Munby. His father has been rector of Tur-vey from 1870 to date, and his grandfather. E. J. Munby was Joseph Munby, J. P. of York and thewapentake of Bulmer, Yorkshire, in whichcounty the family has been for some sixteengenerations, giving its name (corrupted) tothe village of Mumby. He was educated atBedford Grammar School and at Rugby,being the Royal Humane Societys medallistat the latter in 1891. He was engaged ingold-mining in the West, 1897-98; engineeron the first gold-dredgers in the UnitedStates, at Breckenridge, Colo., 1898; actingsuperintendent of gold-dredging operationson rivers in Borneo, for the Chartered Com-pany of British North Borneo, 1899, and chiefengineer of the same work, 1899-1900.
