He, however, soonturned his attention to trade, and was a clerk in the store ofErastus Baldwin. He afterwards bought the Cheney store,where, in connection with his sons, he had a successful tradefor many years. He sold out here, and was engaged in manu-facturing at the Sugar River Mills, with his son Dexter, wherehe had a prosperous trade until he retired from active was post-master, a selectman four years, and a representa-tive in 1833, and held other offices.
