The Book Cliffs of Utah and Colorado, near Green River, Utah
The Book Cliffs, named by an early explorer who thought they "resemble books on a shelf," run over 100 miles from Grand Junction, Colorado to Price, Utah. This portion is in Eastern Utah near the town of Green River, and can be seen from Interstate 70. Behind these cliffs is the Piceance Basin, which contains more oil -- estimated at over one trillion barrels -- than in all of Saudi Arabia.
