China/USA: Brigadier General Clinton D. Vincent receives an Oak Leaf Cluster to his Air Medal from Major General Claire L. Chennault, Commanding General of the 14th Air Force, December 1944. Vincent was commanding general of one of Chennault’s “Flying Tiger” units. 'Flying Tigers' was the popular name for the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force in 1941-1942. The pilots were United States Army (USAAF), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC) personnel, recruited under Presidential sanction and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault.
