Project for the high altar in San Salvatore in Campo in Rome, Giuseppe Subleyras, Italian, 1745 – 1819, Pencil, pen, washes, chinese black, and various watercolor washes on paper, Vertical composition divided into two sections. The top section shows the frontal view of the altar with the altar mensa in front of the dado, flanked by two women, one holding a chalice and the other holding a cross. Two columns support the entablature that is topped by steps showing angels and a glory of rays. The bottom section is the plan, depicting the altar from above.
