WATERMELONS Watermelons require a rich, sandy soil for best development and do best in warm latitudes. Cultivate same as Muskmelon, except that the hills should be nearly double the distance apart. 1 oz. to 25 hills; 3 to 4 lbs. per acre. COLE'S EARLY—The Earliest and Sweetest Watermelon. Ripens with us during August. By far the best Watermelon for the JMorthern btates, where the seasons are usually too short for any other sort.
