A Roman bronze ewer (olpe), 1st/2nd century Cast bronze. Bulbous body, slender neck, stepped spout with extended rim, smooth base. Separately cast and riveted handle, the lance-shaped attachment decorated with gryphon talons, clearly recognisable also the joint of the gryphon's leg. Height cm.
