Brookland Church and separate steeple in Kent, not too far from Rye in East Sussex. In the church is a very ancient font and a painting of a murder.

Brookland Church in Kent is famous for its separate spire which is too heavy to be supported by the church itself, so is set on the ground beside it. One legend says that the spire was so surprised to find a virgin marrying that it jumped off the church. The church has a 12th century leaden font. On the wall of the church is a painting showing Archbishop Thomas a Becket being murdered by armoured knights. The painting may be around late 14th or early 15thy century.
