Merchant, prin-cipal of the London Collegiate Institute, hasbeen appointed principal of the new NormalSchool, and Mr. John I. Dearness, East Middle-sex Public School Inspector, assistant pretty ceremony has of late years beenintroduced in connection with the celebrationof Confederation Day, 1st July.
