Tiroler Folks Museum at Bergisel in Innsbruck with statue of Tirolean folk hero Andreas Hofer who let the revolt against the French & Bavarian armies
This and other images are of the Tiroler Folks Museum at Bergisel in the suburbs of Innsbruck. The significance of this site is where Andreas Hofer led his Tirolean Militia Army against the combined armies of France, and Bavaria during the Napoleonic war of 1810. Statue memorial to Andreas Hofer, an Inn keeper who succeeded in mustering a militia from north and south Tyrol to confront Nepoleon's French and Bavarian army during a major battle on the outskirts of Innsbruck. Hofer was captured and executed on 20 Feb 1810. Similar memorial statues exist in Meran for Sud Tyrol and at Bergisel for Nord Tyrol
