In consequence of these variations it is almost impossible to point out any single cranial character that may be relied upon as absolutely diagnostic. The rostral and interorbital portions of the skull are broader than in T. bottte, and the general form of the skull is epiite different in the two species. On the other hand, the rostral portion is less developed than in the T. aureus group. " This gopher was the most generally distributed of any of the mammals taken during the expedition.
