Chinese Amber-Glazed Pottery Figure. Liao Dynasty, 10th-11th century


Very unusual pair of Chinese amber-glazed attendant figures in long flowing robes and wearing crown-shaped hats with flat tops. One of the figures is playing a traditional Chinese lute (pipa), the other is depicted holding a banner in his right hand and left hand on his chest. Produced during the Liao Dynasty and dating to c. 10th-11th century. Great unique examples of early Chinese ceramics. Both are in very good condition.
