This valley is the exit used by theGreat North Road and the railway which entered thecounty at the gap between the Cleish and Benarty Glen Farg The boundar) line, ha\ing dropped into this \alle}, turnssouth-east towards the lofty Lomond Hills, following thecourse of the little Carmore burn, one of the head streamsof the river Eden. In the gap between the Lomonds andthe north-east extension of the Ochils, the water-parting,dividing the Eden basin from that of Loch Leven, is ofvery low elevation, being, indeed, less than 50 feet abovethe level of the lake. Having crossed this divide, the SIZE SHAPE BOUNDARIES 91 boundary line winds among the hills so as to includethe Bishop Hill (1492 feet) wholly in Kinross but toexclude the twin peaks of the Lomonds. It then descendsto Auchmuirbridge, beneath whose arches flows the riverLeven carrying the surplus waters of Loch Leven to thesea. From Auchmuirbridge to Benarty the boundary linewas readjusted by the Commissioners in 1891. It nowfollows the New Cut, the present channel of theriver Leven, for two miles, after which it circuitouslyapproaches the crest of Benarty. As
