The new bus station in Northampton - North Gate Bus Station with vintage double decker buses

North Gate bus station is the bus station which serves the town of Northampton in England. The building opened on 2 March 2014 on the site of the town's old Fishmarket. The new station was built to replace the previous Greyfriars bus station which dated from 1976 to allow for the subsequent expansion of the Grosvenor Shopping Centre on the Greyfriars site. On Monday 3rd March 2014 the bus station struggled to cope during the first working day after its opening as queues of up to 15 buses brought town centre traffic to a standstill. Motorists reported long queues of buses in Greyfriars waiting to get into the new bus station, which opened on Sunday.
