After their return, he re-enteredthe University and successfully com-jileted the normal course, which hadbeen extended to a two years successful as a teacher, he fol-lowed that profession for several 1895 he obtained a degree of bachelor of science, with a State normal certifi-cate. He has taught in the B. Y. Col-lege, in Logan, the 18th Ward Semina-ry, the Central Seminary and Churchschools, besides teaching^ in several dis-trict schools of Salt Lake City. He hasbeen teaching in the University of Utahsince 1895, and at present holds the po-sition of Director of Science in the StateNormal School. In June, 1885-87, hewent on a mission to Mexico, masteringthe Spanish language and doing a goodwork. He has been a Sunday school. worker for over twenty-live years, wasa membei- of the Central Committeewhich started the Y. M. M. I. A. andalmost ever since has been connectedwith that work. He is a member ofthe High Council of the Granite Stakeand superintendent of the Academy ofthat Stake as well as of the Religionclasses. In October, 1901, he was ap-pointed a member of the Deseret Sun-day School Union Board, and in No-vember an aid in the Church Religion(^lass Board. He is now at work witha committee chosen by these two boardson a course of study for the Latter-daySaint Sunday schools and religionclasses. Elder Cummings life thus farhas been a very active one, his laborsmostly being with the young. He hasbeen fairly successful in a financial wayand served as a member of the thirdState legislature.
