Afonso Henriques was the first king of Portugal and the founder of the nation. In a historic battle he conquered the independence of Castilla and found the nation Portugal. The statue is to see in the castle park of the Castelo de Sao Miguel in Guimaraes, where he was born. Guimaraes is called for that the cradle of Portugal.
