PALM HOUSE The Palm House is situated in Sefton Park, Liverpool and was designed and built by McKenzie and Moncur in 1896 for Henry Yates Thompson, who gifted it to the City of Liverpool. It was designed in the style of Joseph Paxton and originally housed an rich collection of exotic plants. It is octagonal in shape with a marble statue of a famous explorer or naturalist at each corner by Chavailland - Charles Darwin, Christopher Columbus, Henry the Navigator, John Parkinson, Andre le Notre, Captain James Cook, Mercator and Linnaeus.
