Comparison of our prices with those of houses whose quoted prices include postage will show that ours, after postage is added, are often lower than theirs. Notwithstanding that our method is opposed to that which seems at present to be the popular one, we are, on account of our large counter trade, obliged to continue it, because if we quoted prices to include postage, we should be obliged to deduct the amount of the postage from each article purchased at our counter, necessitating a needless waste of time when it is very precious. It must be evident to all who will give it a little thought that the postage must be paid by the customers in some way and that it real'y makes no difference to them as to how it is paid. As a matter of convenience to the dealer we believe he is justified in conducting his business under either or both methods, but he has no right to hold out as an inducement to purchase of him that he pays the postage because actually he does not, the customer does,_and any attempt to make it appear otherwise is really one to make it appear that the customer gets "something for ; For our convenience we include postage in prices quoted on plants and bulbs unless otherwise qnoted, but a^o l or our own convenience do not include postage in quoted prices on seeds except where noted, but the custom
