The Catsburg Country Store sits abandoned outside of Durham NC. The store opened in the 1920's and has sat derelict since the late 1980's.

The Catsburg Country Store was built and operated in the 1920's by Sheriff Eugene Belvin at the junction of Old Oxford Highway and Hamlin Road. The name Catsburg comes from the popular sheriff's nickname "cat" because of his reputation of sneaking up on bootleggers in Durham County. There is speculation that the sheriff's reputation of shutting down stills was as much about protecting his own distilling operations and not enforcement of the law. The store operated in the same family at least until 1987 before closing and falling into ruin. As of September 2019 the store was being offered free to anybody who will move it as a local landmark before it is torn down to make way for new construction.
