Oliver Wendell Holmes Signature and Note
American author and doctor Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809–1894) wrote a variety of poems, medical pamphlets, and novels. Among his best known poems is "Old Ironsides." He also did sketches including "The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table." The note pictured here, sent to "My dear Unknown Friend" with the message "It gives me pleasure to comply with your slight request" is signed by him and dated Boston, January 15th, 1889.
