1951 colour advertisement for Shell and BP featuring Shell-Mex House and a 1950 view across the River Thames at Embankment. The advert promoting the company appeared in the official guide to the South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain, 1951. The festival also marked the centenary of The Great Exhibition of 1851, Hyde Park, London. The advert features a drawing of Shell-Mex House, Shell and BP logos and a pre-Festival painted view across the Thames to the South Bank site from Shell-Mex House on the north bank. - a vintage nineteen fifties item for editorial use only.
