Fornix in the brain. Computer artwork of a person's head showing the brain inside. The highlighted area (centre) shows the fornix. The fornix is a C-shaped bundle of nerve fibres (axons) in the brain that carry signals from the hippocampus to the mammillary bodies and septal nuclei. The fibres begin in the hippocampus on each side of the brain (where they are known as the fimbria) and come together in the midline of the brain, forming the body of the fornix.
