There shall come seven years of plentythroughout the land of Egypt. Then there shallarise after them seven years of famine, and theseven years of plenty shall be forgotten. Thefamine shall consume the land. And the plentyshall not be known in the land by reason of the. JOSEPH. 33 famine following; for it shall be very will shortly bring thy dream to pass. Pharaoh believed Josephs interpretation of hisdream. Then Joseph told him to appoint someone who should have full power to gather andstore away one-fifth of all the crops during theseven years of plenty, so that the Egyptiansshould not perish with hunger during the sevenyears of famine. Pharaoh was so greatly pleasedwith Joseph, as he stood before him, and with thewisdom of his words, that he made him ruler overall the land of Egypt. The king took the ringfrom his own hand and put it upon Josephs hand,arrayed him in fine linen, and put a gold chainabout his neck. He made him ride in a chariotsecond only to his own for beauty, and gave hima beautiful palace to live in, and an Egyptianprincess for a wife; and all who stood beforeJoseph, first bowed the knee to him, so greathad he become.
