A Moro armour, Philippines, 19th century Mail shirt opening in front, made of unrivetted heavy brass rings and inset dark horn plates. Silver-plated copper appliqués on the breast, which has two (incomplete) hook closures. Inset collar and short mail sleeves. In good condition except for four missing appliqués and a few brass rings. Height ca. 63 cm. Traditional battle armour for Moro warriors, until their bloody suppression by US troops after 1898.
