Battle of Sokolovo depicted in the stone mosaic by Czechoslovak artists Sauro Ballardini and Oldřich Oplt (1974) in the entrance hall of Florenc Station of the Prague Metro in Prague, Czech Republic. The Battle of Sokolovo (Bitva u Sokolova) in March 1943 was the first engagement of the Czechoslovak forces on the Eastern Front during World War II. Florenc Station was previously named Sokolovská Station after the battle. The station itself was designed by Czechoslovak architect Vladimír Uhlíř.
