The Gateshead Millennium Bridge light up red on December 1, to mark World AIDS Day, an annual global event that raises awareness of HIV and AIDS. Key landmarks across the World will glow red for the day to show support for those living with HIV and to remember those who have died. Candle lit vigil took place at Church of St Thomas the Martyr with guest speakers and live music remembering those who are affected by HIV. World AIDS Day takes place on the 1st December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.
