The clubmay well be congratulated on havingchosen a man of such proved abilityto take the initiative in making theclub of most value both to the industryand its members. Mr. Dana was born in Bernardston,Mass., in 1886. He took a preparatorycourse at Stones School, Boston, andcompleted his academic course in Har-vard in three years, graduating in after receiving his degree heentered the employ of the Boston Ele-. EDWARD DANA vated Railway as a conductor and sincethat time has had experience in near-ly every department of the road. He became particularly interested inthe scientific aspects of transportationand has made extended trips through-out the entire country in connectionwith railway problems. He is a veryfrequent and valuable contributor tothe Electric Railway Journal, hisarticles dealing principally with de-tailed analyses of the various phases oftransportation. Mr. Dana has been prominent in thedeliberations of the American ElectricRailway Association, where he is con-sidered an authority on transportationmatters. He has also testified as anexpert witness for the InterboroughRapid Transit Company before th?Public Service Commission. The rise of Mr. Dana to general man-ager of the Boston Elevated was ex-ceptionally rapid.
