Keyhole surgery. Surgeons using keyhole (laparascopic) surgery to operate on a patient. Keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that is directed using a laparascope (black handle). The laparascope is a type of endoscope that is inserted into the patient's abdomen and sends an image of the area being operated on to a monitor (top left). The tools (white handle and silver) used for the surgery are inserted through other holes in the abdomen and the surgeon uses the monitor to guide the procedure. Here a patient's cancerous kidney is to be removed.
